The Spiritual Palate

When we stand face-to-face with The Holy Judge, the King-of-kings & Lord of lords, we’ll only see ourselves [our lives] through His lenses in a way that we won’t be able to rationalize our sins in His presence the way we often try to do here. All we’ll see is PURE TRUTH✝️

Many have developed a palet for falsehood & sugar-coated messages so to TASTE and hear anything unadulterated [pure, seasoned with salt truth] sounds bitter and offensive…

Psalm 34:8 (ESV): “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!”

1 Peter 2:2-3 (ESV): “…long for the pure spiritual milk… if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good.”

Psalm 119:103 (ESV): “How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!”

Hebrews 6:4-5 (ESV): “…who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift… and have tasted the goodness of the word of God…”

Psalm 63:5 (KJV): “My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips.”

This represents spiritual discernment, desire, and what we have trained ourselves to receive or reject. An untrained or compromised spiritual palate:

☣️Craves messages that comfort the flesh but ignore truth

☣️Rejects correction and gravitates toward deception or half-truths

☣️Develops a taste for what is unsavory in the Spirit (pride, idolatry, compromise)

☣️Becomes dulled—unable to distinguish between holy and profane.

This is like someone addicted to artificial flavors—they lose appreciation for what is real and nourishing bc they’ve trained themselves that way–based on what they’ve constantly consumed. This is why truth can feel “harsh” to some—it’s not the truth that’s wrong, but the palate that has been conditioned otherwise.

There’s NOTHING that God reveals to us as “guilty” or “not guilty” that’s false–meaning, what He says concerning us and all things, are true bc there’s no lie in Him; no impurities in Him. While we have an opportunity, HERE, to see ourselves through Him NOW–through His Word of Truth, we have time & mercy to REPENT! Don’t rationalize anything just to keep a personality or character trait that could stand to be refined. There’s nothing about us that shouldn’t be able to go through the testing of His Fire. Bc once we get into our spiritual [eternal] body, it’ll be too late–unless you’re fortunate enough to hear a “I’m not ready for you yet” by Him.

WE NEED A REFINED PALET TO TASTE & RECEIVE OF CHRIST JESUS, ALONE 🔥✝️🙌🏾One that:

•Craves sound doctrine and correction

•Finds satisfaction in righteousness and holiness

•Recognizes truth even when it is strong, convicting, or uncomfortable

•Is aligned with the Spirit (the Ruach) and responds to what is pure.

Just like someone who develops a taste for nourishing food, the believer matures to desire what is spiritually beneficial, not just emotionally pleasing. We take life for granted, and moreso our souls [which is who we actually are]. This earthly body is temporal. This place is temporal. These things here on Earth that many risks their lives/souls for, TEMPORAL! But they come with eternal, spiritual consequences.

The best of the best is CHRIST JESUS! We don’t have to settle for the mediocre things that are beneath what He already prepared for us. If you’re serving created things, you’re choosing less than. And you’ll have to reckon with that decision if you decide to leave this earth still believing in & worshipping creations above The Creator🙏🏾 He’s a Covenant-Keeping God–✝️ Just as Romans 12:1–2 calls us to be transformed by the renewing of our mind, God’s Truth transforms our perspectives & desires, retraining our palate as He shifts our appetite from the world to His will. What once satisfied us becomes distasteful. What once felt “too strong” becomes life-giving.

Matthew 5:6 “Blessed [joyful, nourished by God’s goodness] are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness [those who actively seek right standing with God], for they will be [completely] satisfied.

Today, SEEK HIM, while He can be found [the day you hear His voice, don’t harden your heart] 💜
